Rhinestone chokers
A rhinestone choker is worn high on the neck and accentuates any clothing that has a low
or medium neckline. It would be a waste of its beauty to wear such a piece of jewelry with a high neck because the clothing would hide the
choker. The rhinetones in the choker are usually embedded into the gold or silver of the choker itself. You can also have a slender gold choker
with small rhinestones that dangle from the choker at regular intervals.
The stones in a rhinestone choker come from the Rhine River and are
some of the most sought after stones in the world. They look very much like diamonds and are often substituted for diamonds when people want a
piece of jewelry that is exquisite, yet different from the ordinary. In fact, unless you are very knowledgeable about precious stones, it is very
hard to tell the difference between rhinestones and diamonds.
Having a rhinestone choker means that you have to take care of the
stones to prevent damage to the choker itself. The choker should be stored in a jewelry box in a separate compartment from other pieces so that
the stones will not be scratched by the other jewelry. Rhinestones should never be placed in water because it could cause the stones to tarnish
or loosen and then they will fall out. Rhinestones, like other gemstones does need to be cleaned and it is best to use rubbing alcohol. Using a
Q-tip, you will be able to gently wash the stone to remove any dust and dirt without causing any unnecessary damage.
